Why can't I upload files outside of wp-content?

In order to make sure your files are protected when using SFTP, we use a set of restrictive file permissions. These silo your file access, so that you can only upload and edit files within wp-content.

We find this to be the best, most efficient way to ensure that others can't alter or edit your site content. If you do need to upload files within that folder for site migration or legacy purposes, open a support ticket and we'll may be able to help.
